Exam for CAPM Certification
The CAPM exam has a total of 150 multiple-choice questions. Out of the 150 questions, fifteen are considered pretest questions. The pretest questions will not affect the score and are used in exams as a legitimate and effective way to test the validity of future exam questions. All questions are placed randomly throughout the CAPM exam. The amount of scored questions are 135, and 15 are pretest questions that will not affect the score summing up to a total of 150 questions.
The CAPM exam will be computer-based testing (CBT) which is the standard method of administration for PMI examinations. Also available is paper-based testing(PBT) under limited circumstances. Three hours is the allotted time to complete the computer-based exam. Before the CAPM exam is a tutorial followed by a survey, and both of which are optional and both of which can take up to 15 minutes to complete. The tutorial and survey time of 15 minutes is not included in the examination time of 3 hours.
CAPM exam questions are independently developed by global work groups of CAPM credential holders. The examination questions are referenced solely to A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. The questions are also monitored through psychometric analysis.
